I prefer the density (heft) of Platinum over WG so I choose that metal when I can. WG & Platinum both provide qualities that are understated and elegant. Platinum is far superior to Gold when you consider abrasion resistance. However, you must be more careful with Platinum since it is very simple to dent or ding Platinum from a sharp strike or impact. More so than Gold I believe. And that is the one point I don't like about Platinum--you must be vigilant about protecting it from damage.
