Frankly, I think you are incorrect about the "hardness" of pt. I have two plat. bracelets and they scratch more easily than my ss watch bands. My jeweler (a REAL one) said that pt. is hard to work because of its very high melting point, but that it is as soft as gold when it comes to scratching and dinging. And I believe him. And if you think that you will be gaining lots of bucks by paying three times the price for a watch over its stainless steel counterpart, just ask any jeweler what they will give you in scrap value for the pt. It is a joke.
