Thanks Thomas: Your response was of great help and helped clear up a mystery or two. As you noted, I am "new" to all of this, but to me, the watch really doesn't look like it was from 1929-1930. I also knew my grandmother could never have afforded to buy my grandfather a watch like that back in those days. I had always thought she got it for him in the late 50's or early 60's... which now, makes more sense with what you are saying. As for the numbers inside the case, I never tried opening the back because I wasn't sure if it unscrewed or just pried off. As for the case, it is solid. The back of the lugs are gold as is the back itself. (Outside of taking it to a jeweler, is there anyway to know if it is 18,14 or 9 karat?) The lugs are 19mm apart, so I will look around for pictures of the types of bands you suggested and see if I can find something similar. Again, thanks a lot for your quick response and all your help.
