Retail`for Rolex?

Sorry to ask such a basic question but I am a watch "rookie". I want to buy a new Rolex for my wife. Do I just go to a Rolex dealer (jewelry store) and pay retail? The rolex site states that are not sold over the internet...are they ever discounted?
