Trust me you are lucky they would even consider the movement. My watch maker recently got in a watch from a client in LA who had sent their customer's 1951 18K solid gold Oyster Perpetual Officially Certified Chronometer, in absolutely mint condition, to the LA service center for a routine overhaul and they apparently returned it without even a letter or an assesment of the condition. On inspection the movement looked like brand new. The watch was entirely original with perfect dial and hands and the case looked mint. I saw the watch and it was one that even though it wasn't my favorite model...you would love to have it just because of its condition. Actually I agree with you. Perhaps you should get it serviced and enjoy it the way it is. I got my original fixed up perfect...looked like new...I never wore it because I didn't want to disturb the crispness. It used to be my favorite thing but then it lived in a box...the lubrications went stale and it wouldn't keep time. WEAR THE WATCH. Take care of it. If its not mint perfect its okay. You are enjoying it! That is what its purpose was in the first place! Best T.
