In response to: RE: Mont Blanc pens & watches -- Michael Khalil

I used to be a Mont Blanc fountain pen user. I re-iterate the phrase, "used to be."

I had the misfortune of one of my pens needing service a few years back from Mont Blanc. Their service center is located back east and is or was through the Koh-i-nor (I think I have spelled this correctly)company.

The pen in question needed some simple servicing; nothing special and nothing complicated mind you. The plastic snow cap emblem had come off and was causing the cap not to stay put when the pen was in use, so I needed it replaced. I contacted them and while I won't bore you with the details here, suffice it to say that I had so much trouble with them trying to get the thing fixed (and it came with a lifelong guarantee, which ended up being useless) that I ended up throwing the pen away and have never bought anything from them again. I have also heard similar reports from other people, so I don't think my experience was unique.

I would be very careful buying anything from them, especially a watch. If you should ever require any type of service from these guys, which watches do need every so once in awhile, you may wish you never heard of them.

Good Luck.
