What the dealer is telling you is true about the plastic crystal. However, If you are going to wear this watch daily, then you should avoid the plastic, it is subject to scratching. You should buy the newest Sub you can afford with the synthetic crystal. If you are looking for vintage Rolex then look for the least amount of scratching and wear. Keep in mind that sometimes dealers will try to increase price a bit based on "Vintage" .
