RE: Short list time: What watch(es) re you thinking of buying? by archiegoodwin Date: 12/13/2001, 22:39:56 In response to: RE: Short list time: What watch(es) re you thinking of buying? -- Dish |
I wondered why there were no responses to this excellent question. But perhaps it is too personal--innermost secrets. Suppose one's desires do not come true? I am still looking despite having been cured of temporary watchfever--turned out only the cure was temporary. I have convinced myself that I will not purchase a watch until 2002 and I will only buy one then (Eddie Platts' PRS-1 doesn't count and, anyway, I can't think of a serial number I want since 007 was taken). Top watch on the short list was a Lange 1 (Am I crazy?). Alternate 1 was a FP Journe Octa (His simplest, cheapest watch). Alternate 2 was a pre-1993 Panerai (Yes, hard to find--perhaps no watch in 2002 if I make it hard enough! Could I become that wise?). I did not have an Alternate 3 until I saw an offer on eBay (cancelled just prior to final bidding, but with no Buy It Now sign--bad manners). An Audemars Piguet XX (Arnold Schwarzenegger's watch made for The Sixth Day, a sci fi movie) has become the top watch on my short list and the rest slipped down a notch. Maybe I can keep changing my mind and not even buy a watch in 2002 (except Eddie's). Happy times to all. Robin
