Shane:

All the information you need is available on companion sites and links. Therein lies the danger. 6 months ago I did not own a watch and it was in the process of searching the net that I got tangled in the sticky watchweb. I do not believe there is a Franck Muller forum, but Timezone covers all the other brands you list. And Watchnet participants own these watches (again, not sure about the Franck Muller) so you (we) might get a lot of feedback, I hope.

I find the look and heft of the FM Master Banker Ronde with Havana Dial (in platinum--which is more durable than ss) agreeable. That is the watch a nice gray market dealer recommended against--for which I remain very grateful. I thought I needed the triple time zones because I communicate with friends in Europe and Asia while living in the USA. But I am just a wage earner and I was grateful to have not squandered the money.

From this same gray market dealer I bought my Langematik (with date) and it is a complex watch for me. Its German gestalt is unfamiliar to someone who thinks of Switzerland as the center of time. I learned recently when seeing nearly (or over) 100 expensive watches in one afternoon in Hong Kong that the Lange's understatement really stands out. To me it is not easy to like (not pretty), but it is admirable and exquisitely crafted.

In a similar vein is the Swiss German watch company IWC. I shall refrain from suggesting any other marques. You are probably capable of tripping into them all by yourself.

Thanks for the complement, but I hope others on WN who really know something will bring both of us true enlightenment (harrumph, this being mentioned without going into the Ford 289/302).

Robin
