I just recently aquired a Rolex Air-King-Date, model 5701/3, case number 5838001. It is 2 tone, 18 kt bezel and crown, the balance of the case is stainless steel. The diameter is 34 mm, the dial, original, is silver with gold hour bars and three hands, plastic crystal. It was fully serviced by Rolex USA in 2000 and a Rolex croc strap with gold plate buckle was put on. The previous owner then had it checked again just prior to the expiration of the one year service warranty. I have all this paperwork. I have James Dowling's book on order through amazon.com, but I would like some information as to this model. What is the cal used. Where did this model fall in relation to the Date and DateJust? Would it be considered rare, or just collectable at this point. For what market was it intended and any idea as to total production figures. Lastly, should I put it away and not wear it or becareful and wear it once in a while. It is in superb condition as you may imagine. The Rolex service in 2000 came to approximately $760.00 US. Thanks, while I wait for Jame's book.
