Rolex Authenticity

I am looking for some tips on how to tell a real Rolex from the fake, I know about the second hand sweep, but any reliable info on good methods of checking authenticity would be most welcome. Also can anyone please tell me if real rolex ever have see-through backs, as I have seen copies that do.
