I'm also a Hamilton guy. Own a Seahawk (quartz) from the late 70s and just got an Atlantis (mechanical Submariner clone from the same time period). The Seahawk went with me through my last twelve years as an Army officer and I felt it is, without a doubt, one of the best rough use military watches existant. Try the Hamilton web site. They have a guy set up to answer questions about vintage Hamiltons, although he will tell you Hamilton was going under as an American company in the 70's and they don't have many records from the period. The 600 on your case means the watch is rated to a depth of 600ft (20ATM). While Hamiltons like yours and mine are not quite in the collectible category yet (according to some watch snobs)they are still very good watches for use. Yours is well worth restoring and using.
