I hesitated to jump in here but... by Thomas Taylor (Registered User) Date: 02/18/2002, 09:00:51 In response to: RE: RE: Tag Heuer Vs. Omega Vs. Rolex automatic movements -- freq019 |
Not to rank out any brand, that really serves little purpose...you should buy what appeals to you, what you can afford, and what you will be satisfied with in its timekeeping abilities. I agree with John. A friend several years back, and they may have improved greatly since then, purchased a tag heuer automatic. After several attempts at getting it to keep decent time...he bailed out and got his money back. He waited several years and now wears a Breitling Old Navitimer. I think that TAG made their name with the inexpensive quartz watches in the 80's and garnered a generation of fans from that era who are now older and can afford their "better" pieces but really identify with the name from their youth. I wouldn't take a box of 'em for a Rolex if I had to keep and wear 'em. The old Speedy can be problematic but persistence always wins ha ha! The more complications the more headache. It is pretty much the same with all machinery. Do yourself a favor and buy a new Rolex if you can afford one. Have it serviced by the factory when you need to, and you should have little to worry about. If you need to sell it there is always a waiting buyer...you might even make a buck or two if they don't stop raising the darned prices. Now I am sure that lotso folks will disagree with me about that so I am ready for the backlash. I would add that the new Omega CoAxial has some real potential so don't discount that either. It is likely less expensive than a Rolli and quite a bit more unique. Best, T. |
