It's almost certainly from about 1958. Rolex reached 1,000,000 in about 1955 and then, in their inimitable fashion, went back to 100,000 again! They didn't change to 7 digits until the late 50's or so. During this time (of re-using the numbers), however, they adopted the very useful practice of stamping the manufacturing date inside the back cover in the form "IV 58" for the 4th quarter of 1958. So sensible was this practice that they dropped it when they started with 7 digits! Indeed, I believe I'm right in saying that not even all watches made during the relevant period were so stamped.
