I believe that, on the back, the words "ROLEX OYSTER Original Gas Escape Valve" should appear. Additionally the numbers don't seem to make much sense. Do you have the serial number? That might help. Certainly, based on what he has given you, I wouldn't part with a penny unless I saw it first and gave it a thorough going over. Tom
